Frequently Asked Questions


We require instructor and student to use Zoom for online lessons. The following are instructions on how to join a Zoom conference.

1. Please use a laptop, don't use iPhone or iPad.
2. Please use earphone with microphone.
3. To start your lesson, copy and paste the url (something similar to https://zoom.us/j/########## ) that your instructor gives into the location of a browser and press enter. Click download if you are asked to download Zoom (only the first time).
4. Start audio and start video.
5. The following image is what student sees. "Start Video" button can be found on "Toolbar 1". Instructor can see student after student starts video. "Toolbar 2" has buttons that control video layout. "request remote control" button can be found on "Toolbar 3".



Register for a Skype account and have access to Google Docs. If there is an issue with Zoom, the instructor may use Google Docs and Skype to work with student in the U.S. and use WeChat video conference to work with student in China.

Students can make a payment online by Alipay, Paypal or Credit Card.



One-to-one Training Frequently Asked Questions

1. Go to the "Instructors" page to find a suitable instructor.
2. Click the "Consult Instructor" button. Fill in and submit the information on the form. This will bring you to the "Buy Service" page.
3. Select the service and/or group lesson you would like to purchase, and make a payment.
4. We will contact you within 24 hours to schedule a time a lesson time.

A minimum of 2 lessons per month is required.

After you are matched with an instructor, the instructor will contact you directly to set up a weekly time that works for both of you.

Each oral English lesson is 50 minutes. Each one-to-one essay training lesson is 45 minutes. Other subject training lesson is 50 minutes.

If you need to skip or reschedule a lesson, please give the instructor a 24-hour notice or you will be charged for the lesson. No more than one lesson per month may be rescheduled.

For each lesson, the student will be given a book and/or a prompt beforehand. Students must email the essay to the instructor at least 24 hours before the lesson. During the 45-minute lesson, the instructor will teach the student writing skills, discuss the student's essay, and give critiques and suggestions for improvement.

For the oral English lesson, there is one topic for each week. You can find the oral English topic of the week at the upper right corner of our website at www.ilearnworld.com.



Group Lesson Frequently Asked Questions

iLearn World has the following English Writing Group Lessons for each grade. Students must take "English Writing - I" before joining any "English Writing - II" classes. The only difference among each "English Writing - II" group is the book list.

1. Go to the "Group Lesson" page to find a Group Lesson.
2. Click the "Sign Up for This Group Lesson" button. Fill in and submit the information on the sign up form. This will bring you to the "Buy Service" page.
3. Select the group lesson and/or other service you would like to purchase, and make a payment.
4. A notification with information about lesson time and Zoom test will be sent to you a week before the Group Lesson starts.

Usually a 10 session group lesson will finish in 3 months (13 weeks). Occasionally if the instructor cannot make a session due to a conflict, instructor will give an 24-hour notification directly to students.

For each lesson, the student will be given a book and/or a prompt beforehand. Students may submit the essay by either following the instructor's instruction or logging on to the iLearn World website 24 hours before the lesson. During the 50-minute lesson, the instructor will teach the student writing skills, discuss the student's essay, and give critiques and suggestions for improvement.

Your instructor will create a shared folder or Google Document on Google Drive. Please upload your essays to the shared folder or paste your essay onto the Google document.
